Branding goes far beyond logos, colors, and typography. It’s about projecting your brand values, telling your story, and cultivating an entire vibe. Packaging for your brand is a huge touchpoint that should be carefully considered so your customers get the right idea about your brand at first glance.

How do you tell a story with packaging?

We approach packaging design as a layered experience. For example, HENRO Company is a small, family-owned business with a focus on handmade products. Their brand values are reflected in every facet of their packaging from the materials they use to the product labels.

We started the HENRO Company packaging suite with writing copy first. Any product that may need instructions is a great opportunity for your brand voice and story to shine through. We told the story with words and handmade graphic elements to give the customer an idea about the brand even if they didn’t read everything.

Show your brand values with sustainable packaging design

HENRO Company makes an effort to only use sustainable and eco-friendly packing materials, including dissolvable compostable packing peanuts, recyclable boxes and tubes, and reusable candle vessels.

All natural and earth-friendly values carry over to their aesthetic with the dark green primary color and an illustrative pattern.

How can you show your creativity in designing packaging?

Creative packaging stems from critically thinking about the unboxing experience. Unboxing is part of the customer’s experience with the brand—especially if the design is so pretty that customers are compelled to share about it on social media. A simple box to ship sample candles was transformed in to an experience with the magic of intentional design. This product has become a crowd favorite thanks to clever packaging.

How does packaging help brand recognition?

Beyond unboxing and sharing on social media, the packaging we design is meant to be held on to and displayed.

The candle labels were specifically designed to be on display in the HENRO Company customer’s houses. Your brand gains recognition by simply creating something beautiful enough to be left out.
